Dawn Attack Phenomenon
Elections in Indonesia are one of the means of popular sovereignty regulated in the 1945 law and also Pancasila. Elections must be carried out directly, honestly, fairly, freely, confidentially and publicly. Principles like this are often used by legislative candidates to become election winners.
Until now, there are still a lot of money campaigns going on to enable legislative candidates to get more votes. Legislative candidates are competing to spend money to find sympathizers. Legislative candidates do not hesitate to provide assistance to the community in order to get lots of votes.
However, this is not a good and healthy political system because people do not vote based on their work program. In fact, that person chooses to want to have a more prosperous life. People choose legislative candidates who can help their family's economy. They don't look at the personal qualities of legislative candidates.
Therefore, prohibiting money campaigns and avoiding them is one way to advance the Indonesian political system. Political education is needed so that people are aware of the current political situation in Indonesia. For basic necessities, using state facilities such as various kinds of social assistance sourced from the APBN is a category of money politics during the election period.
The public can participate in elections and policy formulation as a form of political participation. Political participation can be used as a parameter in assessing the level of democracy in a country. Meaningful politics is one that can change people's lives from just living to living a good life.
